The Legion of Honor is accessible to wheelchair users, and a limited number of wheelchairs may be borrowed at the front desk on a first-come, first–served basis. The large-print edition of the floor plan is stored at the information desk in the front entrance. Other materials in alternate format are available on request. Audio tours are free to blind visitors, and printed scripts are provided. For performances in the Florence Gould Theater, assistive listening devices can be obtained from the theater technicians. Assistive listening devices for docent tours are available by appointment, from the accessibility coordinator. Sign-language interpretation is provided with two weeks' notice; last-minute requests are accommodated if possible. A TTY for visitor use is located in the volunteer/docent office on the Terrace level. For most temporary exhibitions, notebooks with large-print editions of the labels are provided.

Transportation and Parking
MUNI's wheelchair-accessible #18 line stops in front of the Legion. For access to the Legion from downtown, take MUNI's wheelchair-accessible #38 Geary line to 33rd and Clement and connect with the #18 line. There are six disability placard spaces in front of the museum, two opposite the Terrace door, and two at the staff entrance/loading dock. Visitors needing to avoid the long ramp to the front entrance may use the terrace door, around to the right of the building, which is at grade. Please ring the doorbell, and, after a delay, security officers will release the door.

Tours
Access Docents who have received additional training are available by appointment to lead tours that accommodate the interests of each group or individual. For blind visitors, a tour can include audio descriptions and the opportunity to touch certain sculptures and decorative arts on exhibition. Docents for the deaf offer tours of temporary exhibitions in simultaneous communication.

Workshops
Hands-on workshops for art lovers, teachers, and group leaders are adaptable to any skill level. The workshops are offered twice a year, and reservations are required.

Access Hours or Days
People with disbilities have the option of requesting docent tours of exhibitions during times when exhibitions are less crowded and extra seating is provided. Call to make an appointment.
